Hello everybody,

can anybody say something about the "refx vanguard" software synthesizer? Is it recommendable? When yes, why?

Thank you!!

If i were you, i would'nt bye or download vanguard, cause there's another 10 times better vsti called nexus I use nexus, and it gives you some awsome results, but make sure that you have the expansion pack for all the separates, like Kicks, basses ect.

Vanguard is very easy to use, and it doesn't need much time to get used to. But my opinion is that it's not the money worth vanguard mate...
BUT, its a good vsti to start with before you move over to nexus mate

Veilside9@hotmail.com, ask for more if you wanna

and 10 times more expensive. plus, nexus doesn't allow you to create your own sounds. nexus is really good, but it doesn't have that freedom of creating what you like. so really it's not 10 times better than vanguard, if you think about it... if you like using presets all the time, then nexus is awesome for you, but if not... i say vanguard is the way to go (if you were to choose between the 2).

I like vanguard, have used it in a few projects, mainly older ones, I have replaced most of VST's with Omnisphere which can do pretty much the same and more...

And Nexus 2 does give you a little more freedom (Nexus 2 was probably or most likely made to compete with Omnisphere, since Nexus really doesn't let you do anything that just select sounds...).

Vanguard, on the other hand, does have a few things that Nexus lacks.

Sounds like you haven't been trying nexus out... Cause really, you haven't seen all the stuff you can do in there, you can make more with the preset then with vanguard.

I, personally, have tried pretty much everything from Nexus. I still hate the fact that it leaves a signature behind it (just like a few other VST's I know), which makes it recognizable, unlike Omnisphere. And I wish I could of used some sounds without the surplus, well, as far as I know Nexus 2 solved that issue.

haha, LOL. read my post man. seems that you didn't understand what i was saying. some people prefer making their own sounds instead of using the same presets everybody else does... and btw, i use nexus pretty often... so sorry mate.. i'm sticking to my opinion. never said it wasn't good. i just said that, like Adyjay pointed out, the basic idea of nexus is selecting presets and not really doing any work yourself.

Hi everybody,
The vanguard ist the best vst plugin that we are using. The right thing for uplifting trance sounds. The Thrillseekers are using the vanguard. No wondering that a standard sound is called "synaesthesia"..

massive is awesome. also has got routing - not every synth has got usually like for feedback etc.

nexus is a rompler, you can still tweak the sounds with filters and separate them in the intern mixer.

you buy nexus for sounds not for the engine !!!

don\\\'t see a reason to get vanguard. (get a free one like superwave p8, zynaddsubfx, or synth1 - just google for it)

the arpegiated effects vanguard-wise can be made with the host application, its even better in most cases.the gate effect well its easy cause its intern but can be also done with some work.

I have seen a guy on youtube messing around with superwave and ableton. i think its great.

Never heard omnisphere by myself but i heard it is a great production tool used in many studios.

if you look for good latency i suggest you as host using Cockos Reaper.
